IPMAT 2020 (IIM Rohtak) Exam Analysis by Ajay Zener
The Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT 2020) for IIM Rohtak was conducted today for the Five-year Integrated Program in Management for students after class XII. It was a surprise announcement four days back that the exam will be conducted on a google form for which the instructions were released yesterday. The exam was conducted in an open-book format which leads to a lot of concerns regarding malpractices.
This year the exam which was computer-based had questions from the Quantitative Ability, Logical reasoning, and Verbal Ability. Each of these sections had 20 questions, totally to a total of 60 questions, which were to be completed in 45 minutes. There was no section time limit and every correct answer scored 4 marks with a negative 1 for wrong answers.
The Written Ability Examination (WAT) which was usually a part of the interview process in the last year, was conducted as a part of the written examination this year. On completion of the 45 minutes of the written examination, the WAT started after a break of 15 minutes. The students had to write essays on two topics for which the time allocated was 30 minutes.
There were complaints from students and parents about the way the examination is being conducted and many students also complained of not being able to login to the test for about 10-15 minutes and losing crucial time.
The question paper was moderate, but with the change in format and with less time than the number of questions, the overall experience of the IPMAT 2020 would have been a difficult one.
