Delhi School of Economics was inaugurated in the year 1949 which is affiliated to the University of Delhi. It is one of the Premier Institutes in India for higher learning. V.K.R.V Rao and Indian Economist, Educator, and a Politician launched a project in 1949 to start a center for advanced learning in social sciences which thereby led to the commencement Delhi School of Economics. The DSE houses the renowned Ratan Tata Library which meets the needs of research teachers and scholars. More than 2.5 lakh volumes of books are preserved for young aspirants in this library.
MA Economics | Eligibility Criteria
Indian students (General category): Indian citizens can get admitted through two types of modes direct mode and the other one is the entrance mode. For each mode there is a certain percentage of marks to be obtained.
Direct mode: Delhi University students can apply for direct admission to the MA Economics program if they have secured at least 60% in B.A. Economics (Hons). About 50% of the seats are reserved for direct intake. In the interest of the students, it is advised that Delhi University students also apply for the entrance examination.
Entrance mode: Aspirants should have at least 60% or first class in CGPA in any undergraduate program. Students who prefer to write the entrance test should fill an online form and apply it within the prescribed date. Aspirants must secure a minimum of 40% (General category) of marks in the entrance exam, 36% (OBC category), and 20% (SC/ST category). The shortlisted candidates are listed and are ranked according to the marks gained by admissions committees. Those students have to submit original certificates and mark sheets inclusive of birth certificate and recent passport size photocopies for verification process and make the payment in order to secure admission. Admission slips will be given to the selected students which have to be submitted at the time of enrolment in the Delhi School of Economics.
Foreign students: An international student will be given two choices either to submit GRE marks along with two letters of recommendation from academic referees or either take a departmental test conducted by the Economics school.

Delhi School of Economics | Entrance Exam
The entrance exam will be based on four basic areas in order to evaluate the ability of a student understanding firstly macroeconomic theory secondly microeconomic theory thirdly statistics, probability, and elementary econometrics, and finally mathematical concepts used by economists.
